Booking and visiting
Where is Serenity Hair & Beauty Rooms?
Serenity Hair & Beauty Rooms is at 46–47 High Street, Hastings, East Sussex TN34 3EN, in the heart of Hastings Old Town — on the historic High Street among the independent shops and cafés, a few minutes' walk from the seafront. Inside, the private beauty and spa treatment rooms are set away from the salon floor.
What are your opening hours?
The salon is open Monday 9am – 5pm, Tuesday 9am – 5pm, Thursday 9am – 6pm, Friday 9am – 6pm, Saturday 9am – 6pm. We are closed on Wednesday and Sunday. You can book online at any time, or call 01424 444946 during opening hours. Voicemails and online bookings left while we are closed are responded to the next working day.
Where can I park near the salon?
The Bourne car park is a two-minute walk from Serenity and is the closest place to leave the car. Rock-a-Nore car park is under a ten-minute walk and is much larger, so it is the safer bet on a Saturday or in the summer when the Old Town is busy. There is on-street parking nearby too, but it is limited to two hours, which is not long enough for colour or a longer spa treatment.
How far is Serenity from Hastings railway station?
Hastings railway station is 15–20 minutes on foot from the salon, through the town centre and down towards the seafront end of the High Street. There is a taxi rank at the station if you would rather not walk it, and Rock-a-Nore car park is under ten minutes away with plenty of space if you are driving.
How do I book an appointment at Serenity?
You can book online through our booking portal at any hour, or call the salon on 01424 444946 during opening hours. All appointments require a deposit, which comes off your final bill. Colour appointments need a skin test 48 hours beforehand, so please allow for that when booking a first colour appointment with us.

Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes, Serenity accepts walk-ins, and we will always fit you in if there is a column free. Booking ahead is the surest way to get the day, time and stylist you want, particularly on a Saturday. Colour can be done as a walk-in only if you already have a current skin test with us; without one we need to patch test you 48 hours beforehand. If you are passing, do put your head round the door, or ring 01424 444946 and we will tell you what is free today.
Is there step-free access to the salon?
There is one step at the entrance to the salon, so the door is not step-free. If you have access needs, please call 01424 444946 before booking and we will talk them through honestly — some of our equipment, including the backwash basins, is not currently suitable for every client, and we would rather say so beforehand than have you make a wasted journey. Improving this is on our list.
What is your cancellation policy?
All appointments require a deposit, which comes off your final bill. We kindly ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will incur a 50% fee and the deposit will be lost. If you cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment, or do not attend without letting us know, the full cost (100%) will be charged to cover the time we're unable to fill.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes. Serenity gift vouchers can be bought online through our booking portal at any time, or in person at the salon during opening hours. They are used against treatments and services, are valid for twelve months from the date of issue, and make a straightforward present for a birthday, Christmas or a thank you.

How much is a cut and blow dry in Hastings at Serenity?
A cut and blow dry at Serenity is £55 with a Junior Stylist, £64 with a Senior Stylist and £70 with a Style Director. For long hair it is £63, £73 and £79 respectively. An additional charge of £10 may apply where hair type, length or style complexity calls for it — always discussed at consultation, never added as a surprise.
What is the difference between a Junior Stylist, Senior Stylist and Style Director?
The three levels reflect experience, and that is what the different prices on our menu are for. Whichever level you book at Serenity you get the same products, the same L'Oréal Professionnel training and the same full consultation — a Style Director has simply been doing it longest.
Do I need a skin test before having my hair coloured?
Yes. A skin test is required 48 hours before all colour services at Serenity. Colour services are not available to clients under 16. Please allow for the skin test when you book, as we cannot colour without it.
How much does balayage cost at Serenity?
Balayage and ombré are priced on consultation, because no two heads need the same amount of work — the price depends on your hair's length, thickness and starting colour. Balayage is hand-painted freehand colour that grows out softly with no regrowth line, which makes it the lowest-maintenance colour we offer. Book a consultation and we will agree a firm price before anything starts.
Do you do colour correction?
Yes. Colour change and colour correction at Serenity start from £75, whether you are putting right a colour that went wrong elsewhere or changing shade completely. It is careful, methodical work: our colourists will tell you honestly what is achievable in one sitting and what is better staged across two, and give you a firm price at consultation.
Do you fit hair extensions?
Yes. Serenity fits BHBD hair extensions in 100% Remy hair, for length, thickness or a subtle pop of colour. They are colour-matched to your own hair, fitted to be gentle on it, and cut in so they sit as though they grew there. Extensions are priced on consultation.
What is the Kérastase K-Scan hair and scalp analysis?
K-Scan is a magnified examination of your scalp and hair — density, condition, oil balance and the health of the follicles — carried out by our certified Kérastase Care Coach, with the images on screen so you see exactly what we see. It takes about fifteen minutes and costs £10, and that £10 comes off any treatment or product you buy the same day, so if you act on what we find it costs you nothing. There is no obligation to buy. Very few salons have invested in it. Call 01424 444946 to arrange one.
Which hair brands does Serenity use?
Serenity is a L'Oréal Professionnel flagship salon, and also uses Kérastase, INNOluxe, Kerasilk and BHBD extensions. On the beauty and spa side we use Lycon wax, Skin Rocks skincare, OPI nails and Nouvatan spray tan. Each was chosen because it does something better than the alternatives and because the company behind it trains our team properly.

Do I need a patch test before tinting or a lash lift?
Yes. A skin test is required 48 hours before all tinting and lash-lift treatments at Serenity, including eyebrow tint, eyelash tint and both the classic and Korean lash lifts. Please allow for it when booking your first appointment with us.
Can you remove gel nails that were applied at another salon?
No. We only remove gel that we applied ourselves at Serenity, so we cannot take off work done elsewhere. Gel removal for our own work is £12, or £23 with a treatment.
What is the difference between standard waxing and Lycon waxing?
Lycon is a premium Australian wax that the industry regards as the best available, and at Serenity it is offered as an upgrade for the most sensitive areas. It grips hairs as short as 1mm and lifts them cleanly, so it is markedly more comfortable, results last longer and skin is left smooth rather than sore. A Lycon Hollywood is £41, against £34 for the standard wax.
Do you pierce ears?
Yes. Serenity pierces ear lobes using the Caflon Blu system — sterile, single-use and quick — in a private room rather than at a busy shop counter. Jewellery and aftercare are included. A single lobe is £25 and both lobes £40. We pierce lobes only, for ages 8 and up.
Do you do spray tans?
Yes. Serenity uses Nouvatan, a British spray tan that is 100% natural, vegan and cruelty-free with no parabens, alcohol or harsh chemicals. A full body spray tan is £30 and a half body £20.
What facials do you offer?
Serenity offers Skin Rocks facials, built on the professional range created by skincare expert Caroline Hirons. Your therapist reads your skin first and builds the treatment around what it needs that day. A 25-minute facial is £40 and a 60-minute facial £65, in our private spa rooms. The Skin Rocks range is also available to buy in the salon.
Do you offer massage?
Yes. Our spa rooms offer Serenity Swedish massage from £39 for 25 minutes up to £92 for 85 minutes, Indian head massage at £46 for 25 minutes, an intensely cleansing back treatment from £47, and the Serenity Cocoon Wrap — a full-body scrub, hydrating wrap and mini facial — at £75.

Does Serenity do men's hair?
Yes. A men's cut and style at Serenity is £32 with a Junior Stylist, £35 with a Senior Stylist and £39 with a Style Director. Men's grey coverage is priced on consultation.
